I was at the Green Festival Expo yesterday to see Barbara Bullard speak about Hemi-Sync® and Metamusic®.
Bullard’s presentation was in-line with her Inspired Parenting article about using Hemi-Sync® and music to help young people with ADD and ADHD. According to the information Bullard presented, children with ADD and ADHD are Theta brainwave dominant and lack the Beta brainwave frequencies associated with sustained periods of quiet focus and concentration.
Many of the Hemi-Sync® recordings produced by Bullard include those critical Beta binaural beat frequencies. She specifically mentioned Hemi-Sync® recordings like Remembrance, Einstein’s Dream, Indigo for Quantum Focus and Illumination for Peak Performance, among others.
Of particular interest to me, she talked about the qualities of music best suited for children. While all of the recordings mentioned above include the Beta brainwave frequencies to improve focus and concentration, not all are suited for children, who can have a fear response to music with complex harmonic structures that adults often find comforting. She illustrated her point by describing the qualities of music ideal for children as exemplified by the album Remembrance, while comparing it to meditation music like Ascension that children might perceive as “spooky” and “frightening”.
Bullard also presented some new information on autism and Theta brainwaves that I thought was pretty interesting, though I need a much better understanding of it before I really bring it up.
