iOS Apps for Binaural Beats Music

I use a wide variety of tools to create my my projects. While I generally favor hardware synthesizers and recording studio technologies, every now and then I’ve used iOS apps to create some of my work.

AMBIENT DRONE

Ambient Drone was created for an hypnotherapist who asked me to create something “sparse”, “deeply introspective” and “a little dark”. This track features two bands of Theta binaural beats and a single monaural Delta band. For best results with the binaural beats, use headphones. For this project, I used iOS apps by synth legends Moog and Waldorf: Animoog and Nave. The binaural beats were created using a freeware app called Gnaural. I used DropBox to transfer the tracks to my computer, where I mixed and mastered the project using Logic.

WAKE

Wake is a simple track, a series of repeating asynchronous polyrhythmic phrases that loop at 80 BPM and maintain a fresh sense of momentum that can help you quietly start your day. Contained within Wake are five bands of beat frequencies that gently roll up to an alert state in the low-beta range, frequencies that are associated with normal waking consciousness and a heightened state of alertness, logic and critical reasoning. For this project, I used Korg Gadget to create the music and MindState to create the binaural beats, which were recorded live to the AudioShare app. I used DropBox to transfer the tracks to my computer, where I mixed and mastered the project using Logic.
