Repeating affirmations are an effective technique to re-program your subconscious mind. An affirmation is more than wishful thinking: it is a dynamic, interactive practice that helps you reach your dreams, desires, and goals.
What is an affirmation?
An affirmation is a carefully formatted statement that is repeated frequently. A well structured affirmation is in the present tense, it is positive, personal, and specific.The repetition of affirmations shape and change the subconscious mind, the decisions we make, and how we interact with the world around us. In many ways, I think of an affirmation in the same way that I think of a prayer: affirmations are based on truths that we have yet to realize on a conscious level.

Hypnosis practitioners know that one of the keys to effectively integrating affirmations into your subconscious mind is to be in the theta brainwave state while receiving the affirmations. The theta state heightens receptivity, improves positively reinforcing imagery, and increases your connection to your senses, immersing you more fully in the experience. It so happens that in the theta state, you are also more receptive to information: theta is the ultimate brain state for making positive changes in your subconscious process.
In the enhanced state of relaxation induced by theta music, your critical, judgmental conscious mind takes a back seat while you remain open to suggestion. While this brainwave state is ideal for behavior modification, it is worth noting that you are safe: at no time does your increased suggestibility override your free will. No affirmation or suggestion can make you quack like a duck unless you want to.
