Using My Music On YouTube

“Sometimes he would rather battle a demon from Hell than grapple with the bureaucracy of man…”

E.A. Bucchianeri

I gave permission for someone to use my music on YouTube. I didn’t think much of it, it just isn’t the kind of thing that I worry about, but when they uploaded the video, the track got caught up in YouTube’s Content ID program.

I regret that I didn’t consider the unwanted appearance of ads in someone’s personal video, but there doesn’t appear to be much that I can do about it: after some investigating, I have learned that there is no easy way for me to grant special permissions on a per-use basis.

Going forward, all I can say is that I now better understand that this will happen on all of my work and I will point people to this post when they ask if they can use my music on YouTube. I will say probably say yes again, but I will let them know that there will be ads.

My apologies to anyone that may feel mislead.
